Our Name

Bethel is a word from Hebrew meaning “House of God”. One of the defining Biblical transformational experiences in the formation of the nation of Israel as a people under God (in the Old Testament) occurred at a place called Bethel. Of a great significance is the Jacob’s vision of a stairway that connects earth to heaven upon which the angels of God were ascending and descending (Gen. 28:12, 13).

Bethel symbolises an arena of transformation, encounter, and change. In the vision of our faith community, we want to see people encounter hope, love, and peace through a simple faith in the work of Jesus Christ.
